Our Media Map

Here it is.... our brainstorm for further refinement and reflection. What do you think?

Thursday, March 23, 2006

Please respond to the morning post.

What forms of media do you use in your personal life?
What forms of media do you use in your classroom?
What kinds of media and technologies do you see your students using that you don't?

Excitement and concerns?

What excites you most about these new technologies and their implications for literacy and education?
What are your fears or concerns?

It's just money, right?

Is money "media"?
What do you notice about these examples of money from different African countries?
How does this African money differ from paper money in the United States?

So much to learn!

I've been getting ready for Friday, Supt. Conf. Day here in Ithaca, NY, and as a staff developer I'll be presenting on the impact technology is having on our world and the need for schools to help kids prepare for that world. The pace of change is exponential and for the task of preparing kids for a world which we cannot clearly decribe is a moving target.

Project Look Sharp and Ithaca Schools Join Forces

It was a fantastic day at Cornell on March 24 as Cyndy Scheibe (Project Look Sharp) and Roger Sevilla (ICSD Staff Developer) joined forces and led a session on multiple literacies necessary to function in a world that is becoming more and more flattened by technology tools.
